Methods of Healing by Richard Roberts

I have said things on national televisions that have been so shocking to me.  I remember one night Lindsay and I were on television, and I heard the Lord say, “Richard, say this.  There’s a man who’s had three of his fingers cut off in Vietnam in the 1960?s.  They stitched them back on, but he’s had no use and no feeling since the late 1960?s. Tell him I’m healing his hand now.”

I said, “God, are You aware I’m on live national television?”  And I said, “God, what if You’re wrong?”

I’ll never forget the look on Lindsay’s face when I blurted it out of my mouth.  She looked at me.  Her eyes came out on stems.  She didn’t say anything, but that look said something that you ladies know.  You know that look, don’t you?  I know you husbands know that look.

I said it, and I gasped.  “Oh, my, Lord, what did I say?”  I said it just like the Holy Spirit said it.  I said, “O Lord, please let the phone ring.  Let somebody call.  Let me find somebody who lost a hangnail or something.”

And if you’ve seen our program, we have about 40 to 50 telephones and we can take live calls.  And Sue, who’s sitting over here, was so excited.  She came over and she said, “Oh, there’s a man on the phone right now.  He says he’s the one.”  I said, “Put him on the line.”  Oh, why did you put him on the line?

He said, “Richard, in 1969 I was in Vietnam.  Three of my fingers were cut off.  They sewed them back on.  I’ve had no use, no feeling for all these years.”  He said, “I could take my finger, I could slam it against the wall and not have any feeling whatsoever.”  He said, “When you said that word, something happened.  For the first time since 1969, I can feel my fingers and I’ve got use of them.”  (Applause)

I looked over at Lindsay.  You know, the gifts of the Spirit work through us all, but most of the time when they do we try to explain it away.  “Oh, well, I wonder what that was?”  Or, “Well, that was unusual, must have just been me.”  We explain it away.  Instead of saying, “Lord, is that You?  Lord, I’m listening.”  Isn’t that what Samuel said when he was a boy, “I’m listening, Lord.”  Say it again, Lord.  You know, you’re not insulting the Lord when you say, “Say that one more time.  Let me feel it in my heart.”

The gift of discernment works through us more than we have any idea, and I works especially big in women.  Now I didn’t say the gift of faults, of discerning faults.  I said the gift of discernment.  Why does it work more in women than men?  Because women are emotionally made and are more sensitive.  The gift of discernment works much bigger in Lindsay than it works in me, but it works in all of us.
