The gifts of the Spirit by Richard Roberts
And by-the-way, two or three of the gifts of the Spirit can operate together at the same time. And people are so hungry for the supernatural. If you will allow these things to flow through you and not be embarrassed and not feel like you’re weird or strange, you’ll find they’ll begin to manifest more.
Elijah gave her a word of wisdom and she took that word of wisdom. And the Bible says, “When she got hungry again, they did eat many days.” It’s estimated she cooked a thousand meals out of the empty meal barrel and cruse of oil, because Elijah gave her a word of wisdom.
In John chapter eight, you see the story of the woman who was caught in adultery, and they threw her at the feet of Jesus. They picked up the rocks to kill her, because they knew the Law of Moses. And they were required by the law to kill her, because of her indiscretion.
And they turned to Jesus and said, “We caught her in the very act. What should we do?” And Jesus sat on the ground writing. When He looked up He gave a word of wisdom: “Let Him who is without sin cast the first stone.”
It’s amazing how in a moment, God will give you a word of wisdom. We often, as Christians we will say, “Well, I can’t say that. I don’t want to say that. I might seem strange or I might seem weird.” Virtually everyone in this room has had this happen. The question is: Are you allowing it to come out? Or are you suppressing it?
You say, “Well, I don’t want to step out there. I don’t want to step out there, there’s nothing out there.” That’s when God will use you the most, if you’ll allow yourself to be used.
“Let him who’s without sin cast the first stone.” And pretty soon the Bible says they were pricked by their own conscience; they dropped their rocks and began to walk away. And Jesus said, “Where are your accusers?” She said, “There are none.” He said, “Neither do I accuse you. Go and sin no more.” That was an operation of the word of wisdom.
One of the greatest examples I’ve ever heard was a story that my father told and has told me since I was a boy. He was ministering in India once when a pastor came to him and said, “Brother Roberts, I have a problem. A woman in our church came and brought the body of her son who had died, laid him in my arms and said, “Please pray.” He said, “I don’t really believe in God raising people from the dead, but before I knew it I prayed. And to my amazement, God raised the boy from the dead!?”
And my father said, “What’s your problem?” He said, “Brother Roberts, did I do the right thing?” (LAUGHTER) Quick as a flash, God gave my father a word of wisdom. “Why don’t you ask the little boy if you did the right thing?” Oh sure I did the right thing. And that man got called into the healing ministry as a result of it.
